RAPID TRANSIT-VIA San Antonio Streetcars

Downtown travel is a breeze on the VIA Streetcar. Hop on board an open air, authentic reproduction of a rail streetcar which traveled the streets of San Antonio more than 50 years ago. Four streetcar routes take you to many downtown locations, including The Alamo, Spanish Governor's Palace, La Villita, St. Paul Square, Southwest Craft Center, Institute of Texan Cultures and the King William area. Downtown shopping is made easy with the street car traveling past major stores.

VIA Metropolitan Transit Service
With 95 regular bus routes and four downtown streetcar routes that travel to every major tourist attraction and business in the central business district, VIA makes travel around the city very easy and pleasurable.

VIA's Downtown Information Center -112 Soledad- is open six days a week. Monday-Friday from 7:00am-5:00pm and Saturdays 8:00am-5:00pm. Customer service representatives are available to answer any question a visitor might have.

VIA operates express routes from the downtown area to Sea World of Texas and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Schedules are based on theme park's hours of operation.

Two convenient -cultural tour- routes also operate seven days a week, every 30 minutes between 8:30am-6:30pm. Route 7 -zoo, museums, Botanical Gardens- stops at area attractions including the Zoo, McNay Art Museum, Witte Museum and Pioneer Hall, S.A. Botanical Gardens and Alamo Plaza.

Route 40 -Alamo, Missions- stops at area attractions including The Alamo, La Villita, Blue Star Arts Complex, Lone Star Brewery and four additional area Missions.

One of the highlights of visiting the river is the river cruise, a 35-40 minute historical tour on environmentally friendly, compressed gas cruisers. Charter and dining cruisers are also available. Ticket outlets are on the river, or you can call the Reservation Line for reservations and further information on cruiser services. Dining Cruises/Party Boats: Contact any restaurant, caterer, or hotel along the River Walk to arrange for breakfast, lunch or dinner cruises, or call Rio San Antonio Cruises.
