What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. With a piece of software
called an RSS reader, you can be informed when new content
is available on Tourism New Zealand's websites, and save
yourself a lot of time too.
After you’ve subscribed to a feed
such as the ones listed above using an RSS reader, the reader
will periodically check the site and any other subscribed
websites for new stories and features, and will display summaries
for you to review in an email-like format. This is much faster
than visiting several websites in turn and clicking through
many pages to look for new content, as all the searching
is done for you.
How Do I use RSS?
To use RSS, you need to perform two key steps:
1) Setup an RSS Reader
2) Subscribe to the RSS link using the RSS Reader
Attempting to view the RSS link in your ordinary web browser
will likely give you a page full of text and code. You will
get much better results if you view the link with your RSS
reader.
RSS Readers
Wikipedia has more information on RSS and RSS readers. All
you have to do is to choose a reader to your liking, download
and install it (desktop-based), or sign up to it (web-based)
and follow the instructions. Once you have chosen an RSS reader,
use the reader to subscribe to the RSS feeds on this site to
receive Tourism New Zealand updates.
